Remote Control Fireplace Advantages

Let’s face it, sitting down in your favorite armchair in front of a glowing gas fire can be one of the most relaxing times of the day. If when slumped in your chair you do not want to get up to alter the temperature every so often then the solution would be to use a fireplace remote control.

Even if you do not want to buy a new gas appliance you can still make full use of a fireplace remote control. It is possible for them to be integrated into your existing gas appliances. In most situations they can be operated at a distance of up to twenty five feet, far enough for even the largest of rooms. The main principle is not any different to other remote controls such as your garage door opener. Radio frequencies are utilized to send information from the transmitter to the receiver.

There are many advantages that are had by controlling your gas fir remotely. This article has been compiled to give you an understanding of the most important.

Watching TV: If you do not like to be disturbed when watching your favorite TV shows and movies than a remote control for the fireplace can be utilized to great effect. No longer will you have to keep getting up just as the temperature hots up on the screen as well as in the room.

Bedroom: If you live in a cold part of the country then you may often keep your gas fire going at night. By using a remote control you would not have to be up during the night to alter the temperature or switch the appliance off, it can all be done from the comfort of your bed.

Safety: Do you enjoy turning your gas fire up to maximum. If so then the metal surrounding the appliance may become hot to touch. By using a fireplace remote you would not have to worry about getting burnt. You can safely control the heat from a distance.

Elderly and Disabled: Perhaps you have family members that have mobility issues. By integrating a remote control into the gas fire you can be certain that elderly relatives can control the ambient temperature easily without having to struggle to alter the settings manually.

Gas fireplace remote control?

We just purchased a Jotul gas insert after our wood fireplace caused a fire (there was only one layer of brick in the 1950’s firebox- we found out the hard way). Anyway, they sent it with a Napoleon remote- is this standard or are they just trying to appease the insurance company by cheaping out?

I'm unable to get our gas fireplace to stay lit. What am I doing wrong?

We are in a 2 year old house and we successfully used the gas fireplace. This is a Heat n Glo unit that has a direct ignition sort of switch for the pilot (i.e., no red knob that we click to ignite) along with a wall switch. There are two wall switches grouped together and we’ve never understood what the top wall switch does. The bottom wall switch (at least last year) turned the fireplace on/off.

Now, we’ve replaced the batteries in the remote that looks to be connected to the wall switch. If I click the fireplace "on" with the bottom switch also in the on position, the fire starts immediately. But, if I turn the bottom switch "off" and then back "on" the fire will not start again. I have found that if I take the fireplace "on/off" switch and cut it off, the fire goes out.

Oddly, I found that if I have the fireplace in the "on" position and both the top and bottom wall switches in the "on" position, that if I start the fire and then turn the fireplace switch to "off" that the fire keeps burning with no problem. But, if I take the bottom wall switch and change it to "off" the fire goes back on. It will stay on if I only move the top switch to "off."

I’m baffled as to what to do here. I’ve read our instruction book and followed the fairly easy steps. (Turn fireplace switch to "on" and wall switch to "on" and light fire.) That works fine for starting the fire but not for keeping the pilot on apparently.

Any suggestion? Thanks.

Psychology Question :)?

You’re out hiking in a remote area when you are soaked by a sudden storm. You find shelter in an abandoned cabin in which you find a pile of 2X4 lumber (each board is 8 feet long), some very rusty carpenter’s tools, and some woodworking clamps. You decide to dry out your clothing, gear, and yourself by building a fire in the fireplace (your matches are dry).
It would be good if you could hang up your heavy, soaked coat so you decide to build a clothes rack to place near the fire. But you can’t find any nails, rope, or wire which you might use to build a sturdy enough structure to hold your wet coat, which must weigh a ton! As a responsible person, you don’t want to damage the cabin or its contents. Is there a solution to your dilemma?
Good answer :)

Desa fireplace Pilot flame tiny & goes out.?

If it stays lit, the fireplace will burn until the thermostat kicks it off. The pilot goes out when the burner goes out. It apparently does not have a thermocouple. There are wires connected to the ignitor. It has remote capability, but no remote.

How does my fireplace work ?Insta flame RN20 first it won't come on and later it won't turn off ?

I moved into a house with a gas fireplace "Insta Flame" Canadian Manufacturing Inc. Model RN 20
First I tried to turn it on and nothing happens, the pilot light burns bright but that’s it, the next day or sometimes even a few hours later the fireplace burst to life and keeps on going….and I don’t seem to be able to control the Temp. only the fan speed…There is no thermostat or remote that I could find anywhere…..
When the fireplace finally does go out I can’t get going again…..It’s driving me crazy that I can’t turn it on when I would like to have it on.
What’s going on ???? Greatly appreciated if anyone can help me figure this out…!!!

Gas fireplace pilot goes out.?

I recently had a gas vented log set installed in my previously woodburning fireplace. It works great. It has a Honeywell remote that operates the millivolt control.
Problem is..I can start it, run it a bit, turn it off, close the glass doors and it is fine. BUT if it runs for a couple hours, heats up real good when you turn it off and close the glass the pilot chokes out. It seems that the residual heat rushes up the flue puts the pilot out. Can I adjust the pilot to prevent this ?

What is your long-term fantasy lifestyle?

Personally, I would love to live somewhere out in the country, in a very remote area, somewhere in Kansas, Texas, or Montana. And build a cozy shed with a fireplace, and be alone with a dog (for company) and a shotgun (for grizzlies and strangers). Financially, I always wanted to be a writer.

What do you think of this?

Read my poem and tell me what you think (10 pts.) truthfully plz!!!

My paradise is laying on the wet, soft sand at the beach listening to the remote crashing of the distant waves hitting the shore

My Paradise is enjoying time with friends and family sharing laughter and stories huddled around the fireplace

My paradise is sitting at home on a cold day sipping hot chocolate
and reading a book

In my paradise there is no war, is no fear, is no hurtfulness of harm

In my paradise there is no sadness

In my paradise only happiness and tranquility exist as peaceful and as calm as a beautiful summer day blanketed with clouds and joy
